Thanksgiving Clue Cards
MATERIALS NEEDED: - Brown Lunch Bag - 10 – 15 Sheets of Paper (to be crumpled & inserted into brown bag) - 10 - 12 pieces of Cardstock or Regular Printer Paper (NOTE:Cardstock works better for the craft but can use regularprinter paper also.) - Roll of Tape - Scissors - Markers or Crayons
Craft Materials Hidden for Turkey Craft: (see Turkey Craft Photo for ideas) - Cut out 10 Feather Shapes - Cut out 2 Turkey Feet Shapes - Cut out Pilgrim Hat Shape - Draw Turkey Face on 3-1/2" x 7" Slip of Paper - Cut out square for Happy Thanksgiving Sign
Create 10 Clue Cards: (Clues & Hiding Suggestions Below) 1. Birds of a Feather, Flock Together: My feathers were missing when I woke from a nap. I'm not sure which bed, can you find them in a snap? Hide 10 feathers in bedroom, in, around or under bed.
2. Running Bird: My feet fell right off as I was running away. I need my feet, like your shoes, to get through the day! Hide feet in someone's shoes.
3. Top It Off: I was almost ready to hit the town, when my hat was no where to be found. Finishing up my morning routine, It disappeared without being seen. Hide Pilgrim Hat where child gets ready in the morning.
4. Let's Face It: I like to watch all the cooking, it's great! As long as I don't end up on that plate. Can you find my face? How about making it a race! Hide face in kitchen.
5. Happy Thanksgiving: I love to wear my sign on my chest. It's my way of wishing everyone the best! I was coloring it, making it pretty. If it's lost, that sure would be a pity! Hide sign with coloring and art supplies.
6. Fill the Bird: Crumple some paper and make me plump. It's Thanksgiving Time, I don't want to slump. Have child fill the brown bag until full.
7. Thanks! In the spirit of Thanksgiving, List FIVE things you are thankful for. Have child say them outloud.
8. Turkey Shuffle: Do your best Turkey Dance! Have child do silly dances.
9. Gobble, Gobble: We want to hear your Turkey call! Have child make up turkey sounds.
10. Create Me! You must find all my pieces to make me whole. Complete all the cards to meet this goal. Have child read this card first to start the hunt.
Instructions: 1. Gather materials. 2. Create clue cards & craft pieces for turkey craft. 3. Hide craft materials for hunt. 4. Start scavenger hunt with "Create Me" clue card. 5. Have child shuffle remaining 9 cards and spread them out on a table or the floor face-side down. 6. Have child pick a card (if more than one child, they can take turns) and follow the instructions. 7. Once all of the cards have been flipped and all pieces of turkey craft found, begin creating turkey craft.
Turkey Craft Instructions: 1. Twist the end of paper bag after filled with crumpled paper. Tape around twisted section to hold in place. 2. Have child color feathers.
3. Tape feet onto bottom of bag.
4. Shape face paper into a cylinder and tape. Place on top of twisted part of bag.
5. Tape Pilgrim Hat onto face cylinder. 6. Tape feathers onto back of paper bag.
7. Make “Happy Thanksgiving” Sign and tape onto front of bag.
